Escondido's inland position produces significantly warmer summer conditions than coastal San Diego — 96°F vs. 79°F cooling design — while maintaining the moderate winter typical of Southern California (32°F heating design).

Energy Code & Manual J Requirement: California Title 24 Part 6 (2025 edition, effective January 1, 2026). ACCA Manual J required for residential HVAC sizing. All Escondido and San Diego County jurisdictions enforce Title 24.
