Climate Zone: CEC Climate Zone 2 (inland North Bay / Sonoma Valley). IECC Climate Zone 3C. Santa Rosa's climate is warmer than coastal Marin County but cooler than Sacramento — approximately 90°F cooling design and 30°F heating design. Post-fire rebuild areas may have different site-specific exposures and envelope requirements.
Energy Code & Manual J Requirement: California Title 24 Part 6 (2025 edition, effective January 1, 2026). ACCA Manual J required for residential HVAC sizing. All Santa Rosa and Sonoma County jurisdictions enforce Title 24. Post-fire rebuilds in Sonoma County must also comply with defensible space and fire-hardening requirements that can affect envelope construction and HVAC system selection.
