Climate Zone: CEC Climate Zone 16 (high-elevation mountain — Sierra Nevada). IECC Climate Zone 6B (cold-dry). Truckee's 5,800-foot elevation produces winter design temperatures near 0°F (and below 0°F at the higher Tahoe Donner and Schaffer's Mill lots) and a cooling design near 86°F. Seasonal snowpack regularly exceeds 200 inches.

Energy Code & Manual J Requirement: California Title 24 Part 6 (2025 edition, effective January 1, 2026). ACCA Manual J required for residential HVAC sizing. The Town of Truckee Community Development Department enforces Title 24 directly on all permits.
