Climate Zone: IECC Climate Zone 5A (cold-humid). Worcester's elevated inland position produces colder winters (4°F heating design) and cooler summers than Boston, within the same climate zone classification.

Energy Code & Manual J Requirement: Massachusetts Building Code (IECC 2021). ACCA Manual J required for Worcester County HVAC permits. Many Worcester County municipalities have adopted the Stretch Code.
