Climate Zone: IECC Climate Zone 5A (cold-humid). Lansing's inland central Michigan position produces colder winters (1°F heating design) than Detroit or Grand Rapids, and similar summer conditions. Lake-effect precipitation affects Lansing less than western Michigan but more than southeastern Michigan.

Energy Code & Manual J Requirement: Michigan Residential Building Code (IECC 2021). ACCA Manual J required for Ingham County and all Lansing metro HVAC permits.
