Climate Zone: IECC Climate Zone 3A (mixed-humid). Greenville's Piedmont elevation (1,000 ft) produces somewhat cooler conditions than coastal SC — 93°F/75°F cooling design and 20°F heating design. Both heating and cooling loads are significant.

Energy Code & Manual J Requirement: South Carolina Residential Energy Code (IECC 2009). ACCA Manual J required for all Greenville County and Upstate SC HVAC permit applications.
