Climate Zone: IECC Climate Zone 4A (mixed-humid). Chattanooga's valley position produces hot, humid summers (95°F/76°F cooling design) and moderately cold winters (17°F heating design). Mountain communities at Lookout Mountain and Signal Mountain experience cooler conditions than the valley floor.

Energy Code & Manual J Requirement: Tennessee Energy Code (IECC 2021). ACCA Manual J required for residential HVAC permits in Hamilton County and all Chattanooga area jurisdictions.
