Climate Zone: IECC Climate Zone 2A (hot-humid). Houston is one of the most HVAC-challenging cities in the US — extreme heat combined with very high humidity (97°F/79°F cooling design) produces enormous combined sensible and latent cooling loads.

Energy Code & Manual J Requirement: Texas Residential Energy Code (IECC 2015). ACCA Manual J required for all Houston metro county HVAC permit applications.
